Q: How long can I store my fabric in Fabric File?
A: New fabric can be stored for five years. Older fabric should be washed before entering them into storage.
Q: If cardboard is acidic how is it safe to store my fabrics inside a banker’s box?
A: For two reasons:
1. A banker’s box provides for air circulation both through the open handles and
at each end and through the tie down top.
2. Because the fabric is inside the acid-free file pocket it is not going to
contact the cardboard.
Q: How much fabric can be stored in one fabric file pocket?
A: The 2″ expandable pocket will hold up to 5 yards of cotton-weight fabric.
Q: Is there anything wrong with storing fabric in plastic containers?
A: Yes. A closed plastic container with no air circulation can create its own moisture.
Cotton fabrics need air circulation.
Q: What is the perfect climate for fabric?
A: 70 degrees The Fabric File System is designed for protection from dust, rapid changes in
moisture control, direct sunlight and acid free storage.
